Bacolod City will once again celebrate the Chicken Inasal Festival from May 26 to 28, after the three-year hiatus brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Councilor Jason Villasora, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on tourism, the city council recently approved a city ordinance (CO) amending CO 847, or “an ordinance establishing yearly festivities to be known as the Manokan Country Inasal Festival.”
However, it was amended by CO 847 in 2018, and is now known as “Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival.”
In CO 482 of 2009, the festival committee was vested with the authority to determine the schedule and venue of the festival.
However, the schedule of said festival was substantially changed in CO 847, placing it every first week of May, the ordinance said.
Considering the constraint of time and resources, it is deemed best that an ordinance is sought to be passed.
The specific date shall be determined by the social committee taking into account the circumstances every year, it added.
The city government has already allotted P1 million for the festival.
