Bacolod Tay Tung bags 18-under, 15-under volley titles

Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts swept the titles in the 2nd Congressman Greg Gasataya Age Group Volleyball Tournament after ruling the 18-under and 15-under categories over the weekend.

In the 18-under category, the Bacolod Tay Tung High School-A prevailed over their sister team Bacolod Tay Tung High School-B in a tightly-contested championship game at the Montalbo Residence in Bacolod City.

Katherine Shaine Cortez was hailed as the Most Valuable Player and Best Setter for Bacolod Tay Tung-A, while teammates Jothea Ramos and Jihan Chuatico were named as Best Server and 1st Best Middle Blocker, respectively.

Also part of the eight-player Bacolod Tay Tung High School A were Alex Montoro, Dona Mae de Leon, Mary Antonette Bontia, and Ilonggas Ana Francessca Hermosura and Camila Amor Bartolome.

Players from Bacolod Tay Tung High School-B did not go home empty handed, as Amber Lily Biong (Best Libero), Rhose Viane Almendralejo (1st Best Open Spiker) and Antheia Galicia (2nd Best Middle Blocker) also received individual citation.

Also receiving individual awards from the 18-under category were Eunice Apurado of second runner up La Carlota (Best Opposite Spiker) and Madith Semillano of third runner up One Ball Talisay (2nd Best Open Spiker).

Bacolod Tay Tung High School squad also ruled the 15-under category as they defeated G.Panes of Iloilo in the championship match behind MVP and 1st Best Open Spiker winner Carla Dosayla.

Also providing help for the Bacolod Tay Tung 15-under team were Maria Shannen Banas, Brianna Nikola Ang and Edz Escultura, who were awarded as Best Libero, 1st Best Middle Blocker and 2nd Best Middle Blocker, respectively.

Other members of Tay Tung team were Aiyana Reales, Caitlin Espinosa, Ana Ysabelle Hermosura, Jan Rose Bulak, Vianna Estrella, Alaica Lachica, Alexa Bertolano, Janiyah Lagulao, Athena Magbanua, Kara Feril, and Jamyl Montalbo.

Also receiving awards were G.Panes’ Charmel Penaso (Best Setter) and Trisha Pulmones (Best Opposite Spiker) and 2nd runner up Victorias’ Cleo Cortez (Best Server) and Ma. Trixie Tingson (2nd Best Open Spiker)./ASC, WDJ
