The Philippine National Police-Firearms and Explosives Office (PNP-FEO) suspended the firearms license of Negros Oriental 3rd district Congressman Arnolfo Teves, Jr.
The suspension order was issued after an inspection revealed that some of the lawmaker’s gun documents were allegedly faked.
PNP-FEO acting chief, Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas, said due to the findings, they have revoked Teves’ privileges to his firearm license and confiscated his guns, which include three long and nine short firearms, all registered under his name.
Meanwhile, Teves peacefully surrendered the firearms to the PNP-FEO.
Nonetheless, Lucas noted that the lawmaker could still face charges in relation to Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Lucas also pointed out that they have revoked 240 firearm licenses and confiscated 684 firearms which were found to be involved in various violations and crimes over the past four years./DGB, WDJ
