The agricultural damage due to floods caused by a combination of shear line and a low pressure area in Negros Occidental last week is pegged at P30.4 million, a report released from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) showed.

Based on the report, damage to rice fields was estimated at P29 million, while damage to high-value commercial crops was at P553,000.

On the other hand, corn field damage has an estimated value at P136,000.

Bago City recorded the highest amount of damage among the local government units in the province, which was valued at P13.3 million, followed by Valladolid town at P5.5 million, OPA said.

Meanwhile, Escalante City’s crop damage was estimated at P3 million, followed by Cadiz City and Cauayan town at P1.9 million each, San Enrique town at P1 million, Candoni town at P547,475, Silay City at P411,383, and La Carlota City at P411,383./DGB, WDJ
