The series of arson attacks on heavy equipment in Negros Occidental over the past few weeks could slow down government projects, especially in far-flung areas.

Negros Occidental provincial administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said the torching of heavy equipment will cause delays in road construction, which could affect the delivery of basic services to the people.

Diaz has made an appeal to the Negrenses to unite and help one another to maintain the province’s peace and stability.

Despite the attacks, he believes that the Philippine Army is still successful in their anti-insurgency drives.

Earlier on Monday, January 9, suspected rebels allegedly set a tractor on fire in the province’s Cauayan town.

No one was hurt in the incident, although the tractor was completely destroyed in the attack./DGB, WDJ
