The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) reminded gun owners in Negros Occidental not to discharge their firearms during the New Year’s Day revelry.
Lt. Judesses Catalogo, NOCPPO spokesperson, said gun owners should find other means to make noise.
He warned those caught will have their licenses revoked, and they could also face criminal charges for illegal discharge of firearms.
As for the province’s police force, there is currently no taping of gun muzzles this year.
Brigadier General Leo Francisco, Police Regional Office in Western Visayas director, has already told all police personnel in the region to be responsible and know when they have to use their guns.
Francisco is also calling on the community to report police officers who will violate the order, especially if someone gets killed or injured because of the illegal act./DGB, WDJ
