Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the turnover of Coffee Depulper Project to Cotcot Upland Farmers and Farmworkers Association (CUFFA) at Barangay Mabini’s Sitio Cotcot in Cadiz City on August 25.
The governor was welcomed by Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr., Barangay Mabini village chief Rosevil Villarin, Department of Education personnel, and other local officials.
The project is implemented through the Provincial Environment Management Office, headed by Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio, as part of the Support to Upland and Coastal Ecosystems Management Program.
The two units of Coffee Depulper cost P60,000 and will be under the management of the said farmers association.
The CUFFA officers, led by its president Mary Jean Tanaya, also took their oaths of office before Lacson, during the short program held at Cotcot Elementary School.
The governor advised the farmers to manage the project entrusted to them and continue to protect the natural resources.
He also encouraged them to produce quality coffee to expand their business and livelihood./WDJ
