Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez is currently being pushed by a group of local chief executives to become president of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP).

However, in a press conference held yesterday, Benitez said he would very much prioritize working on the city issues, such as the problem of the city’s flooding during times of heavy rains and the worsening traffic condition.

He said he has no idea as to what is the job of being an LCP president, and is currently seeking the advice and education from his fellow mayors.

The position of LCP president was last held by former Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia from 2019 to 2022./DGB, WDJ
