Two electrical technicians belonging to the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (Ileco) were injured after the electrical pole they were repairing along Sitio Raming, Barangay Pilar in Negros Occidental’s Hinigaran town fell down on Wednesday afternoon, December 29.

Authorities have requested not to identify the two technicians, although they affirmed that they are already out of danger and recovering from their injuries.
According to Fire Officer 1 Lowie Gayorgor of the Hinigaran Fire Station, the two technicians were working on top of the electrical pole when it suddenly fell down.
Both were harnessed at the post at the time.
The two were pinned by the electrical pole for at least a few minutes until emergency first responders arrived and extricated them one by one.
The two suffered bodily injuries, while one of the technicians suffered an additional injury to the shoulder and back.
Gayorgor said it is likely that the electrical pole fell down because the ground where it was standing was softened by the rains.
The two technicians are part of the electrical repair teams from Panay island who were sent to southern Negros to help repair the electrical lines that were damaged by super typhoon “Odette” three weeks ago./DGB, WDJ
