More than 2 million voters in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have registered for the May 2022 elections.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) Negros Occidental records showed that the province has 1,946,639 voters for next year’s polls while Bacolod City has 327,403 voters.
Data released by Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, provincial election supervisor, on Tuesday showed the number of voters increased by 59,437 compared to the 1,887,202 electorate in the 2019 polls.
The biggest number of voters is in the third district which has 313,671 registered voters followed by the sixth district with 307,048; fifth district – 291,349; first district – 251,754; fourth district – 241,130; and second district – 214,284.
The top five local government units (LGU) with the biggest number of voters are Kabankalan City with 104,994 voters followed by Bago City with 99,799; Cadiz City – 96,224; Silay City – 89,483; and San Carlos City – 85,878.
The LGU with the least number of voters is Candoni with only 16,397 registered voters.
Ananoria added that there are 743 polling centers in the province with 15,193 precincts, of which 12,289 are established precincts and 2,904 are clustered precincts.
Bacolod City, meanwhile, has 2,159 established precincts with 450 clustered precincts with 45 voting centers./DGB, WDJ
