At least 13 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members of Barangay Palampas in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental received P15,000 each as livelihood assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 6 (DSWD-6) on Tuesday morning.

Czar Ben Molina, Project Development Officer II of DSWD-6, said that their agency allotted P195,000 under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) for 13 beneficiaries while the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was tasked to identify possible recipients who are 4Ps members with existing businesses.

Molina added that beneficiaries either have sari-sari store, hog raising business, rice and frozen food retailing, RTW business, or flower vending.

He also said that three barangays were the beneficiaries of said livelihood assistance, namely, barangays Nataban, Quezon and Palampas but only Palampas has completed the requirements set by the DSWD and the DTI.

CSWD Officer Cynthia Mirande, on the other hand, is hopeful that the P15,000 will improve the recipients’ livelihoods. She added that the DSWD will monitor them regularly to ensure that the money provided by the government is being used well.

Emily Apostol Bacaoco, Provincial Coordinator DSWD-Sustainable Livelihood Program, said that upon receiving the P15,000, each recipient has the responsibility to improve their livelihood since it was given by the government for said purpose./WDJ
