Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson urges the local government units (LGUs) to brace for the second round of the COVID-19 National Vaccination Days or the “Bayanihan Bakunahan” set on December 15 to 17, 2021.

Negros Occidental topped the first round of the three-day vaccination drive in Western Visayas with 213,291 persons vaccinated, based from records of the Regional Vaccination Center of the Department of Health Region 6 (DOH-6).

The province also exceeded its target of 150,000 for three days or a daily target of 50,000.

On November 29, Negros Occidental vaccinated 68,911 individuals; November 30 – 71,012; and on December 1 – 73,368.

Lacson said the province made a good record during the first round that it hit 142 percent of their target for the vaccination program.

He also acknowledges the good performance of the cities of Sagay, Cadiz, Bago, and Himamaylan.

But Lacson encourages the mayors to always remind their respective constituents not to be complacent despite the province having been under Alert Level II category.

“Let us always remind our constituents to continue practicing the primary health protocols which is the wearing of the face mask. [COVID-19] is still around so we [must] never let our guard down,” Lacson added./DGB, WDJ
