Negrense boxer Roy Sumugat aims to stretch his winning run when he battles Ilonggo Juanito Paredes this Saturday at the The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Parañaque City.
This will be the Bacolod City-native Sumugat’s fourth bout this year following his first round stoppage win over Eljohn Evangelista last June and sixth round KO win over Glenn Bismanos last September, both in Urdaneta City.
The Iloilo City-native Paredes, on the other hand, is hoping to bounce back after suffering a unanimous decision defeat to fellow Filipino fighter Pete Apolinar last March in Mandaue City.
The 31-year-old Sumugat is entering the match with a 12-11-1 win-loss-draw ring record, including six stoppage victories, while the 29-year-old Paredes has 8-7-1 slate, with three knockout wins.
Aklanon Delmar Pello, on the other hand, hopes to continue his winning run when he tangles with former amateur standout Charly Suarez in the co-main event of a fight card presented by Elorde Promotions International.
The Nabas, Aklan-native Pello will be entering the match with a pristine 9-0-0 win-loss-draw ring record, including three stoppage wins, but he has not stepped in the ring since 2019.
Suarez, for his part, also has an undefeated 8-0-0 boxing slate but was more active as this is his fifth match this year after beating Lorence Rosas, Eduardo Mancito, Pablito Canada, and Jon Jon Estrada./ASC, WDJ
