Bacolod City recorded only two new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases yesterday – its lowest single-day case recording since the spike of infections this year.
The real-time figures were reported by the Data Management Cluster of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) headed by Executive Director Em Legaspi-Ang, adding the real-time active COVID-19 casesin the city are also down to only 273 as of yesterday.
According to Dr. Rosalie Deocampo, head of EOC’s contact-tracing cluster, one case is an unvaccinated breast cancer patient from Barangay Vista Alegre while the second one, a physician from Barangay Singcang-Airport, is asymptomatic.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia cited the continued public cooperation in support of the local government’s vaccination drive regarding the latest development.
He also credited it to the hard work of EOC-TF health frontliners who worked tirelessly, even on a 24-hour shift, to inoculate as many residents in the city’s bid to achieve herd immunity.
Meanwhile, a total of 42 vaccination sites opened as early as 8:00 a.m. yesterday for the first day of the three-day national COVID-19 vaccination drive./WDJ
