Several areas in Negros island, Panay and Guimaras experienced rotational brownouts or blackouts yesterday morning.

According to information posted by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), they monitored the tripping of several power plants in Negros Oriental and Iloilo.

As a result, several areas in Negros, particularly in Bacolod City, experienced either a power outage or low power.

As of 3:45 p.m. yesterday, several areas in Bacolod City still do not have power, while normal power has been restored in some areas.

Among the power cooperatives affected by the power interruption were Ceneco, Noneco, Noceco, and Noreco I and II located in Negros Island.

Meanwhile, in Panay and Guimaras, power providers More Power; Ileco I, II and III; Capelco; Anteco; Akelco; and Guimelco were also affected.

In order to maintain the integrity of the transmission grid, protection systems were activated and manual load dropping was implemented.

The NGCP further added they are currently waiting for the restoration schedule from the generating plants and they will post an update as soon as available./DGB, WDJ
