Escalante City Mayor Melecio Yap Jr. is urging the city’s residents not to be choosy with the available COVID-19 vaccines.
In a post made on the city government’s official social media page, the city is currently targeting to vaccinate 68,761 of the city’s total population.
However, as of September 29 the city has only fully-vaccinated 10,659 or equivalent to only 15.50 percent of the total target population.
Yap is appealing to the city’s residents to get the vaccine in order to avoid getting infected or avoid serious complications and death if infected by the virus.
He also pointed out that the vaccines work, citing the city’s local health office reporting that of the three individuals who have been hospitalized due to COVID-19, two are now fighting for their lives after slipping to a critical condition as they were unvaccinated.
Another example wherein the ones who were assigned to take care of the three patients have yielded negative results when swabbed as they were all fully vaccinated.
“This is clear proof of the good effect of the vaccine against COVID-19,” he said. “Don’t be choosy as to what brand of vaccine you would get, get the vaccine now in order to get protected.”/DGB, WDJ
