Ninety eight percent of military personnel in Negros islands have so far been inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19.
As of Friday, September 18, 99% of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IB) personnel have been fully vaccinated, 79th Infantry Battalion – 99% fully vaccinated and 62nd Infantry Battalion – 95% fully vaccinated. They received Sinovac, AstraZeneca and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.
The 303IB and its line battalions are conducting troop’s information and education (TI & E) program to address issues, concerns, and apprehension of soldiers about being vaccinated.
“Your Army in Negros remains ready to serve our people in these challenging times. The availability of the vaccines is a welcome development and being vaccinated is an opportunity that allows us to carry out our duties of serving the people and securing the land, especially the Negrenses. Our troops will make good use of this opportunity to confidently and carefully bestow our duties as we jointly seek an end to this pandemic,” 303IB commander Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte said in a statement.
“The Army in Negros is grateful to the local government’s efforts especially the province of Negros Occidental to have our military personnel be among the first to receive a COVID-19 vaccine,” he added./WDJ
