While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to plague the country, the political virus has obviously been observed to be creeping around the veins and arteries of the nation. It is clear as the blue waters of Boracay and Sipalay that the incumbent politicians are now more geared to looking at their future in the political climate of their respective territories.

At the national level, the in-fighting in political parties is starting to bleed. The friendship and camaraderie among politicos are seen to be breaking up due to the greed for power. Who cares to get hurt as long as their quest for power and wealth are their main concern today? Television screens are now starting to show the pretentious statements and shameful loving words of national politicians who want to remain in power.

It is very sad that in this kenkoy country called Pilipinas, there seems to be only a few names who are privileged to rule the nation. For decades one could see the same family names ruling the people. Many observe that most of them seem to be there to protect their own interests in business and fame.

“For several decades, this country has been ruled by the same family names like Angara, Pimentel, Enrile, Drilon, Cayetano, Lapid, Villar, Binay, to name some. Pity for those who are also qualified,” said a golfer.

“Yes, and it is better for the recent election that new names have come in like dela Rosa, Tolentino, Go. I pray that new names qualified at that could replace the old faggots in the legislative circle,” added a disgruntled businessman.

The television campaigns today show how amusing these political candidates are trying to be pretentious in their intent to serve the nation.

“After winning the election and sit in power, the poor Pinoys could not even see them visit far-flung areas, nor visit and talk to their constituents. Shame on them, really,” said a priest.

“Nakakahiya ang mga beautiful words nila sa television which are all fake promises,” added a businessman.

The coming rivalry as to who is the next national leader is starting to brew. Some political groups could not even decide on their choice of presidential bets.

“Why can’t this country have only two bets as president? There are too many ambitious Filipinos who dream to be president or vice-president,” asked the golfer.

In the local scene in this region, water is starting to boil in Bacolod City where the incumbent mayor is now to be challenged by a powerful and influential young bet in the name of Albee Benitez. As the words spread, the challenger is now giving fears to the dream of the incumbent to remain in power or his last term. But talks run about that the residents are clamoring for change and a new face is their hope for a change in the leadership of the city.

“We need change as there has been not much good governance in the present leadership. If only there is sincerity in the service to the public, change may not be needed. But there seems to be a stagnant public service,” said a senior citizen.
