The media community in Bacolod City and the whole of Negros Occidental mourned the sudden passing of two local veteran journalists.

Jerome Galunan Jr., sports blogger, writer, and teacher, passed away around 7:10 a.m.
A few hours later Radyo Bandera Sweet FM-Bacolod anchorman Rushmore Ubas also succumbed to illness in a hospital in Bacolod City.
Galunan was previously a sports writer for Watchmen Daily Journal.
He continued writing sports for another local paper in Bacolod and also worked as an editor for Sportsjourn.com, and a teacher at the Sum-ag National High School in Bacolod.
Galunan is survived by his wife and daughter.
Ubas, meanwhile, was formerly an assistant station manager and anchorman of Bombo Radyo-Bacolod.
He then went on a short hiatus and returned in 2017 joining Radyo Bandera Sweet FM-Bacolod as anchorman for the radio station’s program 11-MBPS.
He was also tagged as the “Raffy Tulfo” of Bacolod City for the many people he has assisted in his radio program, especially Negrense and Bacolodnon overseas Filipino workers.
Ubas, already widowed but in a relationship prior to his passing, left behind a son and two daughters.
In a statement made by Negros Press Club (NPC) President Yves Buenafe Montecillo, they mourn the loss of two of its members.
Montecillo remembers Galunan as hardworking and dedicated to his profession both in the education sector and the community media.
Meanwhile, he also described Ubas for his straightforward reporting, insightful, and dynamic commentaries in the air waves.
The NPC president has extended his condolences to the families left behind by the two mediamen./DGB, WDJ
