A man was killed after he was allegedly hit on the head by a still unidentified suspect at Sitio Turkey, Barangay 4, Sipalay City in Negros Occidental early Sunday evening.
Police identified the fatality as 31-year-old Ronald Pelario, a resident of the said place.
Police Major James Latayon, Sipalay City police chief, said hours prior to being found dead, Pelario was spotted by local residents drinking.
He was then last seen riding home in a “habal-habal” although it is believed that he again went out of his house to get more drinks.
At around 6:50 p.m., a “habal-habal” driver found Pelario lifeless by the roadside and immediately contacted the authorities.
Police investigators later arrived and found that Pelario’s head was cracked open.
The weapon that was allegedly used, a “dos por dos” or 2×2 piece of wood, was later recovered near the crime scene.
Latayon added that it would be difficult for them to determine who was behind Pelario’s killing as he was noted to be a “troublemaker” and has many enemies.
He also noted that there are no witnesses willing to come forward to police./DGB, WDJ
