Around 10.06 percent of Negrenses have already been vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines as of September 1, Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) head Dr. Zeaphard Caelian said.

Caelian said they are targeting to vaccinate 70 percent of the province’s 1,825,000 population to achieve herd immunity.

PIMT’s latest records showed that there are 263,580 Negrenses who are already fully vaccinated while 79,910 are currently waiting for their second dose.

Caelian also said he appreciates the willingness of many residents in the province to have themselves vaccinated as shown by the increasing number of people lining up in vaccination centers in different local government units.

“They see the need to have themselves and their families to be protected especially now where there is a spread of the highly infectious Delta variant in the Philippines,” he pointed out.

The PIMT head added that right now the province is waiting for the arrival of additional COVID-19 vaccines./DGB, WDJ
