W. Visayas receives over 1.4-M COVID vaccine doses

Western Visayas has already received a total of 1,425,650 doses of various anti-COVID-19 vaccines as of July 23, 2021.

Department of Health 6 (DOH-6) data showed that the region was able to get the following vaccine doses:

  • Sinovac – 755,960
  • AstraZeneca – 343,400
  • Pfizer – 31,590
  • Gamalaya – 4,800
  • Janssen – 289,900

Of the provinces and highly urbanized cities in the region, Iloilo province received the biggest allocation so far with 321,482 doses followed by Negros Occidental with 298,960 doses.

Iloilo City came in third with 264,924 doses followed by Bacolod City with 184,040 doses; Capiz with 118,708 doses; Aklan with 103,652 doses; Antique with 93,510 doses; and Guimaras with 31,854 doses.

The DOH-6 regional office, meantime, got 8,520 COVID-19 vaccine doses.

On the other hand, a total of 562,203 individuals in the region are already vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine,  DOH-6 July 24 data showed. This comprises 10.79 percent of the 5.2 million masterlisted under Priority Group A.

Of the figure, 135,68 belong to A1 (medical health workers); 164,490 under A2 (senior citizens), 198,984 under A3 (adults with co-morbidities); 50,000 under A4 (essential economic workers), and 3,083 under A5 (indigent population).

Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated individuals in the region is now at 264,173 or 5.07 percent of the masterlisted population.

As of July 26, Western Visayas has a total of 10,379 active COVID-19 cases; 69,556 recoveries; and 1,875 deaths. (Glenda Tayona)/WDJ
