Police are currently conducting a manhunt operation against a man who allegedly threw a grenade at the house of his niece at Sitio Anangge in Murcia town’s Barangay Buenavista.
Police identified the suspect as 40-year-old Jimmy Alimaña, a resident of the said place.
Police Captain Jerald Muya, Murcia town police chief, said that last Sunday, June 20, at around 2:00 p.m. Alimaña, who was described to be drunk at that time, allegedly threw a grenade at the house of 29-year-old Mylene Alimaña.
The victim, believing that his uncle only threw a rock, picked up a wooden plank and hit the grenade back to his uncle.
The suspect then fled away leaving behind the unexploded grenade as well as his improvised shotgun.
The town police chief said the two sides have been feuding for a long time, and the victim’s uncle had the tendency to threaten his own niece every time he got drunk.
Muya further added the grenade failed to explode because the suspect did not pull the safety pin.
The suspect is currently facing criminal charges over the incident./DGB, WDJ
