Western Visayas recorded its new highest number of coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, cases in one day yesterday at 828, bringing the total active cases in the region to 10,050.
Department of Health’s COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin No. 440 showed Negros Occidental with highest recorded new cases with 212, of which 208 were local cases, three were locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and one returning overseas Filipino (ROF).
Iloilo province came in second with 209 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 204 were local cases, four LSIs and one ROF, followed by Bacolod City with 139 cases and Iloilo City with 103 cases.
Aklan recorded 68 cases, Capiz – 54, Antique – 23, and Guimaras – 20.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City still has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases with 2,296 followed by Negros Occidental with 2,122.
Iloilo province is also catching up with 1,993 active cases along with Bacolod City with 1,608.
As to the other provinces in the region, Capiz has 773 active cases, Aklan – 625, Antique – 473, and Guimaras – 260.
COVID-19 deaths in the region are now at 1,264 including the 13 new deaths recorded yesterday.
Of the total number of COVID-19 deaths, 300 of which were recorded in Negros Occidental, Bacolod City – 277, Iloilo – 226, Iloilo City – 223, Capiz – 109, Aklan – 59, and Antique – 58.
As of yesterday, the total cumulative cases of COVID-19 in the region since the start of the pandemic have already reached 53,400./WDJ
