Ten fishermen were arrested for illegal fishing in Barangay San Francisco in Iloilo province’s Barotac Viejo town around 6:30 a.m. yesterday.

The following were detained at the Barotac Viejo Police Station for violating the municipal ordinance on illegal fishing: Marlon Andrad, Phillip Salvador, Bonnie Salvador, and Jay R Andrade, all residents of Barangay Madanlog, San Dionisio town; Rodel Bongayo, Rodgen Felisiano and Manuel Salvador, all of Carles town’s Barangay Barancalan; and Rod Barrios, Rommel Barrios and Ramon Barrios, residents of Barangay Lawis in Balasan town.

Police officers and members of the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force caught the fishermen onboard three fishing boats who were illegally fishing in the waters of Barotac Viejo./WDJ
