Western Visayas recorded 19 deaths due to coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, yesterday.

This is the highest COVID-19 deaths recorded in a single day in the region.

The additional deaths yesterday brought the total COVID-19 deaths in the region to 1,230.

Of the highly urbanized cities and provinces in the region, Negros Occidental has the highest number of COVID-19 deaths at 297 followed by Bacolod City with 274.

Iloilo City came in third with 217 COVID-19 deaths followed by Iloilo province with 208, Capiz – 108, Antique – 58 and Aklan – 57.

Meanwhile, Western Visayas has now a total of 9,173 active COVID-19 cases including the 473 new confirmed cases yesterday.

Department of Health 6 also recorded yesterday 440 COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the disease, bringing the total recoveries to 41,515.

The region’s cumulative confirmed cases since the pandemic started last year is now at 51,934./WDJ
