Cities of Bacolod, Iloilo ‘high-risk’ areas for COVID

The Department of Health (DOH) 6 classified the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo as high-risk due to the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19.

According to Dr. Bea Camille Fillaro-Natalaray, the two highly urbanized cities’ two-week growth rate is 10.98 percent and 14.11 percent, respectively.

As to the daily average attack rate (per 100,000 population), Bacolod is at 11 percent while Iloilo City is higher at 63 percent.

Meanwhile, the provinces of Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo are at moderate-risk while Negros Occidental and Aklan are classified as low-risk.

Generally, the whole Western Visayas is classified as moderate-risk for COVID-19.

Western Visayas active COVID-19 cases reached 7,611 yesterday. The region logged an average of 371 cases daily for the month of May, which is way higher than April’s daily average cases of 261. (Glenda Tayona)/WDJ
