A former member of the Philippine Army and his companion were arrested by police after yielding 60 grams of suspected shabu as well as several firearms during a buy-bust operation at Barangay Binicuil in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday night, May 25.

Police identified the suspect as ex-soldier Rolly Dofeliz, 52, and a resident of the city’s Barangay 6.

Also arrested was 38-year-old Edmar Sta. Ana, a resident of Georgina Homes in the said barangay.

Kabankalan City police said the suspects handed over one sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P500.

When the poseur buyer identified himself as a cop, Sta. Ana immediately tried to lock the door of the house, but the other police officers managed to break the door and arrested the suspects.

Police recovered nine more sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P408,000, a coin purse, a caliber .357 revolver, seven live .38 caliber bullets, drug paraphernalia, and suspected drug proceeds amounting to P1,000.

The suspects are facing illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition charges. They are presently detained at the Kabankalan City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
