A total of 500 police officers will help the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) force in enforcing the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in the city.
An initial 200 cops have already reported to the ICPO headquarters yesterday as part of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) augmentation forces for the strict implementation of health protocols against the spread of coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19, in the city.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Rolando F. Miranda said he ordered 300 more personnel to augment Iloilo City, bringing the total augmentation to 500.
“As promised, I will be giving more personnel to augment Iloilo City to ensure that minimum health standards and guidelines during MECQ are properly implemented,” Miranda said.
The first 200 police personnel came from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 while the additional 300 are fresh graduates from the basic course who are programmed to undergo the Field Training Program.
These 500 personnel will be under the operational control of the ICPO and will be divided among the different police units in the city while the whole city is under the MECQ status until May 31, 2021./WDJ
