Instead of asking for a travel moratorium, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday that they will strictly impose the S-Pass requirement instead for travelers entering the province.
According to Lacson, they can still deny entry for travelers via the S-Pass system instead without necessarily asking for a travel moratorium.
He said they will base on the decision of accepting travelers depending on the quarantine capacity of a local government unit (LGU).
If there are still available rooms in the quarantine facility they will allow travelers to enter Negros Occidental.
However, if the LGU doesn’t have the capability to handle more occupants for their quarantine facilities, then they have no choice but to deny entry.
Lacson added they are currently more concerned over the number of local COVID-19 cases, although as of the moment the situation in the province is still manageable.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental recorded 275 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total cases on the province to 12,835, of which 2,738 are active, according to Department of Health 6 COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin No. 409./DGB, WDJ
