The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) is currently waiting for the directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Guillermo Eleazar on the use of body cameras.
NOCPPO spokesperson Lt. Abegael Donasco said NOCPPO currently has 192 body cameras, wherein each city police station received 16 each.
An additional number of body cameras for the municipal police station will also arrive soon, however, they have no idea yet as to how many they will be receiving.
Donasco said the police force in the province will undergo a seminar on how to use the body cameras.
At present, the PNP is finalizing its protocols for the use of body cameras in their operations so as to avoid legal technicalities especially in prosecuting suspected law breakers.
Eleazar himself stated they would have to consult with other government agencies, particularly the Supreme Court, in order to craft the protocols that would be observed by police personnel when using body cameras./DGB, WDJ
