The local government unit (LGU) of Santa Barbara in Iloilo province is investigating a family who was caught with alleged fake reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results.
According to Santa Barbara municipal administrator, Atty. Leo Superio, the family returned home from Cebu on Saturday, April 24. The parents, their two minor children and their family driver arrived at the province’s Estancia port. Upon checking, the Estancia LGU found their documents with no QR code.
“From Cebu nagdiretso sila sa Estancia. Pag-present nila sang RT-PCR test nagduda ang counterpart ta sa Estancia kay wala sang QR code ang ila RT-PCR test. Ti, gintawgan kami nga puede sugaton ang magpamilya kay indi nila pag-release kon indi LGU ang masugat,” Superio said.
The Santa Barabara LGU coordinated with the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu and it was found out that the hospital had no records issuing the test results.
Officials are currently investigating whether this was deliberate or if the family was victim of a scam.
If proven guilty, the family could face charges for falsification of documents.
As of press time, the said family was placed in strict quarantine awaiting the results of the investigation./WDJ
