Man killed, live-in partner wounded in Bacolod shooting

A man was killed while his live-in partner was wounded after they were shot inside their rented house at Purok Sigay in Bacolod City’s Barangay 2 around 6:30 a.m. yesterday.

Officers of the Police Station 2 identified the fatality as a 29-year old Rahnz Morre Banias of the city’s Barangay Banago.

Banias sustained gunshot wounds on the back of his head and right arm. He was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where the attending physician declared him as dead-on-arrival.

Banias’ live-in partner, 36-year old Mary Liza Pahamutang of Barangay 2, was recuperating at the Riverside Medical Center. She sustained gunshot wounds on the left eye and back of the body.

Police investigation revealed that the couple was still in bed when an unidentified male gunman entered their house and shot them several times using a firearm of an unknown caliber.

Police added that the gunman, who fled towards the eastern part of Purok Sigay, was wearing a bicycle helmet, blue sweatshirt and pants.

Officers of the Police Station 2 were still identifying the suspect.

They have yet to establish the motive in the incident as of this writing./WDJ
