The bio-laboratory of the Valladolid District Hospital in Negros Occidental’s Valladolid town is nearing its operational status.

Provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, said officials from the Department of Health (DOH) arrived on Thursday, February 11, in order to conduct ocular inspection of the facility.

The officials are also scheduled to conduct a proficiency examination of the medical technologist who will be assigned in the province’s biolab.

Diaz said it would take at least a week for the results of the proficiency test to be released.

Once operational, he said the provincial government is planning to send here all swab samples coming from the south from Bago City to the town of Hinoba-an.

Meanwhile, the biolab at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital will handle all samples coming in from the northern portion of the province.

He further revealed that Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is planning to bring down the waiting time of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test results to just 24 hours./DGB, WDJ
