The 79th Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion (79IB) of the 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army distributed relief goods to the families affected by floods in the three localities of Negros Occidental on Wednesday, January 20.
A total of 1,000 families from the cities of Victorias, Sagay and Escalante received packs of relief goods that contain assorted canned goods, rice and noodles donated by GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc. and Landers Superstore thru the Central Command, AFP.
Used clothing donated by private individuals and stakeholders from Central Visayas were also distributed.
To recall, some areas of Negros Occidental experienced massive flooding last January 1 and 8, which prompted the residents to evacuate.
The beneficiaries thanked the GMA Kapuso Foundation and Landers Superstore as well as the Armed Forces of the Philippines for bringing the relief goods to them.
“This noble undertaking shows our stakeholders’ genuine concern to the affected constituents in Northern Negros during these trying times,” said 79IB commander, Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Alvaran.
He also thanked the donors and other partner stakeholders for the relief goods, adding “Your Masaligan troopers are always ready to support relief efforts and extend the necessary service to the communities. We assure you of our full commitment on these noble undertakings.” Lt. Col Alvaran added./WDJ
