A rape suspect was arrested 11:30 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Lutungan, Igbaras in Iloilo province.

Igbaras police said Benjamin Egalam of the town’s Barangay Alameda was arrested through an arrest warrant issued by Judge Nelita Jesusa Bacaling of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 67.

Egalam was charged with rape in relation to Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The court recommended a bail bond of P200,000 for his temporary liberty.

He was detained at the Igbaras Police Station./WDJ
