The number of deaths due to the coronavirus diseases 2019, or COVID-19, in Western Visayas is now 666 including the two deaths recorded on Saturday, January 9.

Bacolod City posted the highest number of COVID-19 deaths with 178 while the lowest is Antique with one death.

Negros Occidental recorded the second highest number of deaths with 164, followed by Iloilo City with 151, Iloilo province – 103, Capiz – 50, Aklan – 15, and Guimaras – 4.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 patients in the region who have recovered from the infectious disease reached 20,516 out of the 21,876 total cumulative cases recorded in the region including 38 new cases on Saturday.

With this, the remaining active cases in the region is 688 wherein 78.95 percent are asymptomatic, 15.79 percent are mild and 5.26 percent are severe./WDJ
