The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) yesterday appealed to the public not to generalize the entire police force over the double murder incidents in Paniqui, Tarlac last Sunday.
NOCPPO Public Information Officer, Police Lt. Abegael Donasco, said the public should not point to the entire police force over the actions committed by Police Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca.
Donasco said not all police officers are like Nuezca, and the “good” police officers are only being dragged into the mess created by erring cops like Nuezca.
She said it is possible that Nuezca may have lost his self-control, and may be the reason why he used his issued firearm in order to commit evil deed.
Donasco has assured the public that the entire NOCPPO force will only use their firearms for the safety and security of the public.
Earlier on Sunday, Nuezca shot dead 25-year-old Frank Anthony Gregorio and his mother, 52-year-old Sonya Gregorio, during a heated argument.
Nuezca, who was assigned at the Parañaque City Police Crime Laboratory, fled the crime scene after the shooting, but he later surrendered to the Rosales Municipal Police Station in Pangasinan.
Aside from the two-counts of murder filed against Nuezca, it has also been discovered that he had been involved in two homicide incidents last year, and had also been handed with a suspension order in 2014 for allegedly avoiding a drug test.
During an official visit at the NOCPPO headquarters on Monday, Philippine National Police (PNP) Deputy Director for Operations, Police Major General Cesar Hawthorne Binag, condemned the actions of Nuezca, adding they will not tolerate it.
Nuezca is expected to be kicked out of the PNP, as his dismissal order is now awaiting the signature of PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas./DGB, WDJ
