The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is now investigating and monitoring the move of 27 fraternities in the city.

ICPO deputy city director for operations, Police Lieutenant Colonel Reuben Siason, confirmed that there are 27 gangs existing in the city.

“All police chiefs are directed to monitor the movements and activities of the gangs that are in their area of responsibility and coordinate with the barangay officials so that we can control them or we can talk to their respective leaders…,” said Siason.

Here is the list of the existing gangs in Iloilo City:

City Proper district:

Siason said that there is a possibility that some of the gangs are regrouping and most of the members are minors.

“We are trying to know the members because we admit that those minors are the ones who are aggressive…, but there are other members who are helping the police. Indi tanan nga members malain, may ara man nga maayo kag may mga projects pa gani, pero may mga members ang katonto man,” he said.

Police intelligence report showed that SPERM Junior and DOCE gangs are now active wherein some of their members were figured in a rumble last week.

Relative to this, Siason said they have already intensified police visibility through increased foot and mobile patrols in the city especially during night time.

“We increased the numbers of our personnel in the field and our patrol cars are roaming around to help our foot patroller cops. We have also coordinated with some of their [gangs] members to talk over through our Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk personnel. We are doing interventions to maintain peace and order in Iloilo City,” Siason said./WDJ
