The police chiefs of EB Magalona and La Carlota City tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019, or Covid-19.

In a press conference held yesterday morning, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Colonel Romy Palgue, confirmed that EB Magalona police chief, Police Captain Wilfredo Benoman, and La Carlota City police chief Jonel Guadalupe were the latest Covid-19 cases for NOPPO.

Palgue said the deputies of the respective police stations have temporarily taken over as officer-in-charge while the two police chiefs are placed on quarantine.

He further stated that 20 staff from the EB Magalona police station have undergone swab testing and have also been placed on quarantine.

In the meantime, Palgue sent units from NOPPO’s mobile force company to oversee the security in the town.

Palgue also confirmed that one of NOPPO’s non-uniformed personnel has also tested positive for Covid-19.

NOPPO has now a total of 26 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 14 recoveries./DGB, WDJ
