At least seven kilos of suspected shabu valued at P47.6 million were seized in an anti-drug operation conducted by the Cebu City Police Office and the Regional Intelligence Division-Central Visayas at Sitio Tipolo Bridge in Cebu City’s Barangay Guadalupe yesterday morning.

Police identified the arrested as 32-year-old Rolando Ondoy Romeo; 42-year-old Calvin Valdez; and 24-year-old Edward Romeo, residents of Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Based on information forwarded by Cebu City police, the suspects have been under close surveillance for the past two months prior to launching the operation against them.

Investigations revealed the drugs came from San Carlos City in Negros Occidental and were smuggled by boat to Toledo City in Cebu.

Romeo then picked up the package, which was sent by a certain Rustico Ygot, an inmate of a penal farm in Zamboanga City.

The drugs were intended to be sold not just in Cebu City, but for the whole province.

The suspects, meanwhile, claimed they were ordered to pick-up the package and are unaware that it contains illegal drugs.

All three suspects are presently facing illegal drugs charges./DGB, WDJ
