Cauayan town inaugurates new public market

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, together with Sixth District Rep. Genaro Alvarez, Jr. and Cauayan town Mayor John Rey Tabujara, spearheaded the inauguration of Cauayan’s new public market on Monday morning.

The P100-million public market is located along the national highway in Barangay Poblacion.

The new market has 51 available stalls, and it will have wet and dry market areas, commercial stalls, canteen, and comfort rooms.

Lacson lauded the cooperation and hard work of the town’s local officials for the realization of the project that will lead to more economic activities and more progress.

The governor also advised the local vendors to do their share in the cleanliness and maintenance of their new market.

He also asked the authorities to strictly implement local health protocols in crowded places, particularly in the new market, to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

Tabujara also thanked Lacson for all the support to their town’s projects.

The new municipal bus and excavator were also inaugurated as part of the day’s activity.

Meanwhile, the town’s 25 barangays also received financial assistance, with counterparts from the province, to fund for their local projects./WDJ
