Olivia Yanson, matriarch of the Yanson clan that operates Yanson Group of Bus Companies and Vallacar Transit Inc., has recovered from the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, and has been discharged from the hospital.
Ginnette Yanson-Dumancas posted a picture of her mother being wheelchaired out of the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Metro Manila after spending 10 days battling the illness.
Dumancas said her mother will be placed in isolation for another seven days, and stated the feeling of uncertainty and helplessness stressed her the most.
She pointed out the secret to the success of her mother fighting and winning against Covid-19 is early detection.
She said Covid first attacks your nasal, throat and lungs. Once you have low oxygen saturation, your heart works double time to augment the loss of oxygen.
“Covid-19 will weaken your lungs first, then the rest of the body organs,” she added.
Dumancas also said the small pulse-Oximeter used on her mother was the instrument that detected the suspicion of her Covid-19 illness.
Earlier this month, Yanson was airlifted to Manila as she was having difficulty in breathing.
Despite the illness, the Yanson matriarch still exhibited a “strong fighting spirit” even requesting to take a bath first before being rushed to the hospital in Bacolod City prior to being airlifted to Manila./DGB, WDJ
