With the uncertainty hounding the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, Negrense guard Mark Nonoy is reportedly entertaining the possibility of moving to another collegiate team.
A source told Watchmen Daily Journal that at least six schools, four from UAAP and two from NCAA, have contacted Nonoy’s manager Jax Chua of Phenom Sports Management to possibly recruit the La Carlota City-native guard.
“Ateneo, DLSU, Adamson, NU, San Beda, and Letran have all inquired for the services of Mark Nonoy if ever he will consider moving out of UST,” a source who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
The source added that, if Nonoy only has a choice, he wanted to finish his collegiate career with the Growling Tigers but it will all depend if UST is to be met with suspension for its controversial “Sorsogon Bubble.”
“Kung si Mark lang naman, he does not want to leave UST kasi malaki rin ang naitulong sa career niya ng UST since nung pumunta siya dito noong high school, but we can’t take away from him to think about his future,” the source said.
“Mark also dreams to play sa PBA someday and he can hone his skills further kung makakalaro siya sa collegiate years niya,” he added. “In the event na ma-suspend ang UST ng ilang years, Mark will consider playing elsewhere.”
Five players have already left the Growling Tigers lair since the “Sorsogon Bubble” controversy namely, CJ Cansino to University of the Philippines, Ferdinand Asuncion to Mapua University, and Rhenz Abando, Ira Bataller and Brent Paraiso, all with Letran./ASC, WDJ
