A memorandum of agreement was recently signed naming the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Iloilo City’s Mandurriao district as the dedicated facility for confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, in the Western Visayas.

“In anticipation [for] the possible growth of Covid-19 patients, there is a need to establish an initial protocol for the admission and treatment of these patients to efficiently manage the medical personnel and resources of Iloilo City,” the memorandum read.

In addition, Department of Health-Region VI focal person for Covid-19, Dr. Jane Juanico, said the West Visayas State University Medical Center, located in the city’s Jaro district, will be on standby to take any overflow patients.

Meanwhile, WVMC announced they are prepared to accept Covid-19 specimens for testing,

“Before ginapadala naton sa Manila or Cebu, subong diri na sya available (Before, specimens needs to be sent to Manila or Cebu, now, they are available here),” explained DOH-6 director, Dr. Marlyn Convocar./WDJ
