After initially scheduled to kick off on January 18 but “funding constraints and logistical considerations” pushed the 2020 ASEAN Para Games to a later date, which were then postpone anew due to ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) recently announced the games will take place from October 3 to 9.
“The board has agreed to convene another meeting at the end of July to assess the Covid-19 situation before confirming and proceeding with the proposed new dates for the games,” explained APSF President Osoth Bhavilai. “This is to adhere to the regulation that the host notifies APSF at least 60 days before the commencement of the games to allow time for the APSF Coordination Committee to inspect facilities and the host’s readiness.”
He added, the new scheduled is tentative and was proposed on the condition that “the Covid-19 pandemic is under control and no longer a threat.”/ASC, WDJ
