The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) yesterday said the city’s crime rate is down with a 32 percent rating for March. BCPO spokesperson, Police Lt. Colonel Ariel Pico, attributed the low crime rate to the current implementation of a general quarantine and closure of Negros Occidental’s borders due to the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19.
According to the law enforcement official, the crime rate for March last year was 43 percent.
Earlier, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said criminality in the province has dropped “far from the normal situation,” adding, they have not recorded any theft or hold-up cases.
The number of road accidents has also drastically decreased./DGB, WDJ
