The Philippine Super Liga (PSL) formally cancelled the ongoing 2020 PSL Grand Prix due to ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19. According to PSL Chairman Philip Ella Juico, they had no choice.
“We are putting the welfare of our fans and players above anything else,” the chairman explained. “We encourage both local and foreign players to go home to be with their loved ones in these trying times.”
He added, the league will continue to monitor and assess the situation.
Meanwhile, PSL President Ian Laurel said the decision was not easy.
“We needed to evaluate the situation and came up with this tough decision,” he explained. “We will call for a special team owners meeting as soon as the situation improves.”/ASC, WDJ
