Amid the ongoing threat from the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino issued an advisory over the weekend calling on local chief executives to bar senior citizens and students from leaving their homes. The policy was effective as of 3:00 p.m. yesterday.
According to the advisory, with the Department of Health identifying senior citizens as the most vulnerable to the disease, they should be placed under strict 24-hour curfew or home quarantine.
Dino also advised local officials to impose a strict home quarantine for all students.
They may be exempted for medical emergencies or to undergo routine medical procedures for chronic illnesses. In addition, students may also be exempted if they can show proof they are volunteering for medical or medical-related work.
Meanwhile, anybody leaving their home is required to present valid identification indicating their date of birth and employment identification.
As of 12:00 noon yesterday, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country is at 380, two of which are from Western Visayas./DGB, WDJ
