The Bacolod City government is considering the Education and Training Center School-1 (ETCS-1) extension building in the city’s Barangay 16 as a possible quarantine facility for persons under monitoring for the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19. Bacolod City Administrator Em Ang said the technical working group has agreed to use the school as a quarantine facility but seven other schools are also under consideration.
Ang said the ETCS-1 Extension Building has a total of 36 classrooms, each with its own toilet facility.
The building has its own clinic, feeding facility, and administration office, she added.
City officials under monitoring can be placed in one classroom and, if their condition worsens, health officials could “easily make an assessment.”
Once selected, the facility will be placed under the custody of the City Health Office, however, barangay health workers will be tasked with monitoring the quarantined individuals.
Aside from ETCS-1, the Bacolod BAYS Center, located along San Juan Street, is also being planned as a respiratory center. Ang explained, the center will be made available for patients who need check-ups and to decongest outpatient departments at hospitals across the city.
The city official said the proposal will be forwarded to the Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force Against Novel Coronavirus for approval./DGB, WDJ
